My Bio

I am in my 6th year of teaching in a small but rapidly growing town outside of Houston, Texas. In my 6 years of teaching, I have taught at the same campus where I have started my journey as a 7th grade ELA teacher. Teaching was always in the backburner of my goals, it wasn't until college when I changed my degree from Pre-Nursing to English ( I know drastic move) that I considered teaching a possibility. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in English and a passion for writing. Unfortunately, a dream of becoming a freelance writer wasn't in the cards for me.
I went to SHSU to complete my teaching certification program and became a teacher with hopes of teaching high school and moving to higher levels. I, fortunately, found a grade level that I love teaching because it provided an adventure and a challenge that I was seeking in my career. It wasn't until the persistence of my mentor telling me that I needed a graduate degree and an opportunity of free breakfast tacos that I decided to enroll in graduate school in the Digital Learning and Leadership program at Lamar University. I officially have a Master's degree in Digital Learning and Leading.
I am also a new dog mom. I have a 2-year-old English Cocker Spaniel/Labrador (Spanador) name, Tex. His name is derived from a literary text. Get it, Text=book= Tex. Tex is goofball, and I am often chasing him around the house, taking him to the park, and working next to him while he naps. Along with hanging out with my energetic pup, I am an avid reader and enjoy spending time with my family!
